The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act of 2015, (as amended) (the Act), introduces a new governance framework for public procurement, retention and disposal of public property in Trinidad and Tobago. Following full proclamation of the Act all entities using “public money” will be required to plan and execute procurement, retention and disposal actions in a manner that is designed to achieve the objects of the Act. In an effort to assist public bodies in their preparation for full proclamation of the Act, the Office of Procurement Regulation (OPR) issued a Readiness Assessment Checklist (RAC) to assess the progress made by public bodies hitherto. The RAC outlines a series of comprehensive steps to be undertaken by public bodies in their transition towards compliance with the Act, and highlights the necessary support systems required to enable efficient monitoring and reporting by public bodies.
